Privacy Policy

This policy explains how ClipMend ("we", "us") handles your information. ClipMend is operated by an independent sole trader based in Ukraine.
Your video stays on your Mac. The ClipMend app processes and repairs your media entirely on your device. We do not upload, store, or have access to your video, audio, or image files.
Information we collect
- Email address — only if you join our waitlist or contact us. Used to send product and launch updates; you can unsubscribe anytime.
- Purchase data — when you buy a license, payment is handled by our reseller Paddle. Paddle processes your name, email and payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive order and license information (e.g. email, country, license key) but never your full card details.
- License activation — to validate your license, the app sends your license key and a device identifier to our licensing provider. No media or personal files are sent.
- Basic website analytics — aggregate, privacy-respecting traffic data via our hosting provider (Cloudflare). No advertising trackers.
- Anonymous in-app usage statistics — the ClipMend app sends anonymous technical signals via TelemetryDeck (EU-based, privacy-first) so we can see which repairs succeed and which cameras need better support: app and macOS version, device model, the camera brand/model and codec of processed footage, and whether an operation succeeded or failed. Signals are anonymized on your device before sending. No file names, file paths, or media content are ever sent. You can switch this off anytime in the app menu (ClipMend → Anonymous usage statistics).
- Update checks — the app periodically asks our website for the latest version (standard Sparkle update feed at clipmend.com). This is a plain web request; we do not attach any personal data to it.
How we use it
To deliver and validate your license, provide support, send updates you asked for, and improve the product. We do not sell your personal data.
Sharing
We share data only with service providers needed to run the product: Paddle (payments), our licensing provider (license validation), TelemetryDeck (anonymous usage statistics), and our email/hosting providers. Each acts under its own privacy terms.
Retention & your rights
We keep order and license data as required for support, tax and legal purposes. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by emailing us. Depending on your location (e.g. EU/UK) you may have additional rights under the GDPR.
